SOL’s roots in the business community of Finland go deep. Our first operations are considered to have started in 1848, when dye master C.A. Lindström founded a textile dye house and laundry on the hill where the Parliament House of Finland currently stands.

SOL is an active opinion leader, with representatives on the Boards of the Confederation of Finnish Industries, the Finnish Property Maintenance Association and the Private Employment Agencies Association. We also participate in the functions of the Company division of Finnsecurity ry. SOL participates in the work of other bodies as well and accepts positions of trust and expert tasks offered.

Customer satisfaction and customer retention are monitored in all our activities every month. We follow all field-specific instructions. Continuous customer feedback and a questionnaire procedure are a part of the annual plan and conducted monthly with some customers.

According to the results, SOL’s customer satisfaction has been at an excellent level for many years. Our goal is to have customers who want to do business with companies and communities using our services or with our own full-service laundries also in the future. The number of our happy domestic cleaning customers is also increasing.

In 1991 and 1993, SOL received the Excellence Finland Award and was awarded the Nestor Partners Oy Trailblazers’ lantern. In 1992, SOL also received the Achiever of the Year award. We employ about 11,000 cheerful SOL professionals and the revenue objective of our group for the year 2014 is EUR 316 million.

Responsible owners are the backbone for steady growth

The owners of SOL, which has operated as a family business since it began, have a central role and steady experience in the development of the company. The owners expect from the employees responsible operations in accordance with the company values. SOL is an active member of the Finnish Family Firms Association, which promotes an operational framework for and responsible ownership of family enterprises.

SOLEMO Oy functions as the parent company of the group. The Finnish affiliates are SOL Services Oy (providing domestic, property, cleaning, facility, safety and security services), SOL Laundy services Oy (providing laundry services), and SOL Personnel services Oy (operating in the personnel service field). Our international affiliates operate in Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

SOL’s multiservice guards create a professional sense of security anywhere. They use the latest security technology and carry out any other necessary tasks. The service experience is always tailored to meet the needs of the customer.

On-site guarding

On-site guarding recognises and prevents threats to property or personnel, such as by monitoring personal traffic and the premises.

Shop security and porters

A guard prevents with visible technical monitoring the risks to a customer’s property or personnel and, if necessary, takes action to handle the situation. Professional customer service is highlighted in shops.

Monitoring room services

Monitoring room guard services aim to prevent possible disturbances by utilising technical monitoring and, if necessary, appearing on-site. In other cases, the guard will alarm another guard or a representative of the customer for the task. Any emergencies are minimised and detected deviations are actively handled.

Lobby services

The aim of the lobby service is to prevent, through physical and technical monitoring, security threats to the property, the personnel and customers. Another aim is to maintain a positive security culture and protect the business image.

Our multiservice guards are skilled in receiving guests, guidance, facility bookings, telephone exchange, key control and meeting services. Office and Back Office services, catering services, postal services, shredding, temporary workforce and office supply storage maintenance are also included in our wide range of expertise.

On-site and district guarding

The primary task of an on-site guard is to protect the fixed and moveable property of the business in accordance with the instructions drafted in cooperation with the customer. Monitoring is done on the premises or inside the property with the help of separately agreed inspection rounds. The aim is to reduce the risks to the business or chain and to prevent and minimise the security threats to the property, staff and customers.

The usual on-site guarding duties include opening, closing and inspection rounds, switching the alarm systems on and off, and moving to emergency sites by car.

The service prices include stain treatment, dry cleaning, emulsion cleaning or wet cleaning, and finishing. Other prices are available at SOL Laundries or by contacting our our customer service at tel. 020 570 0720 or pesulapalvelut@sol.fi . Prices include VAT 25,5%.

Kimberly Bautista came from Philippines 3 years ago. Now she is a cleaner at Hotel Kamp.

Back at home she use to do office work, so cleaning was new thing to her.

-I had no idea how to clean professionally, because I just had experience to clean my own home.  But it’s a different story , says Kimberly laughing.

-At the beginning it was very difficult. I was very lucky to have very patient colleagues who helped me step by step, even if I made mistakes. At the hotel they have very high expectations about cleanliness, it is a 5-star hotel. Our supervisor never conveys pressure to us, she always gives feedback kindly, says Kimberly.

The best parts of SOL

–  I feel like appreciated, safe and secure working at SOL. I’m sure that SOL, as it takes good care of me, takes care of every single worker in the company and for that I´m very grateful, says Kimberly.

– What I like about SOL is that it has very friendly supervisors, who take good care of the employees, and gives the welcoming atmosphere. I realized that SOL is a company full of multiculturalism and always gives the opportunity to all those who want to work.

Love what you do

The advice that Kimberly gives is that find the passion through work.

No matter how hard your work is, love your work
do it because you enjoy it.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to do professional cleaning because we can teach you. The most important thing is that if you have a good attitude to learn and adapt the changes and to be open minded, Kimberly says smiling

Back at home Philippines she has husband and 5-yers old son. After years of waiting, she is finally getting her family to Finland.

Mario Noble is a former US military who was in the Marines for twelve years. He joined the military immediately after finishing high school. Thanks to the opportunity that the Marines gave him to study in another country and because he has a Finnish partner, he decided to move to Finland to study digital marketing and communications at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences

What Mario likes about Finland is the amount of nature that you can find everywhere and the fact that Finland is relatively safe.

In the Marines, Mario worked as an administrative chief. After his military service, it was important for him to start studying again to get a degree. Mario became a full-time student, but he still wanted to earn some extra money, so he started looking for part-time jobs on the internet, and that’s where he found SOL Palvelut Oy.

“I like working at SOL because my work hours have been very flexible as a student”, says Mario.

Mario has been working with SOL for about 3 years as a part-time cleaner on ships and in hotels, and now he is already finishing his studies. “I really recommend SOL as a first job for foreigners and students. At SOL, there is a very friendly work environment. However, it’s a very different job from the one I used to do. Imagine going from 12 years in the US Marines to becoming a cleaner at SOL; it’s a huge but nice change for me” says Mario.

Visar is a metro cleaner at SOL. He came to Finland two years ago in November from Kosovo and he speaks Albanian. He came to Finland looking for work. His cousin and friends recommended SOL as an employer, because they had heard it was a good place to work. Visar sent his SOL application from Kosovo and said that the recruitment process was easy and lasted 2 to 3 months.

Before metro Visar worked in Ilmala and at the railway station and Allas Pool and many others, but he likes cleaning the metro especially where he gets to drive the cleaning machine. He works together with almost 30-40 other workers in the metro. In his work Visar pays attention to the work quality and wants that everything looks good.

Back in Kosovo Visar used to work at a bar 8 hours a day for 8 euros. The salary was just enough to pay the rent but not much else. Back in Kosovo he misses his family, and like Finland, Kosovo had many lakes. Living in Kosovo was nice but hard. Everything about work was stressful, both work tasks and work environment. He likes that cleaning the metro is not as stressful and he can focus on the quality of his work.

Visar advises everyone to speak Finnish. Although it can be hard, Visar sees that it’s very useful for the workers:

My supervisor teaches me to speak Finnish once a week. And If I ask something in English she answers in Finnish. That´s good way to learn as well.

To job applicants Visar gives simple advice:

Don’t give stress, and help each other. It’s easy.”
